Welcome to Don Bosco Technical Centre – Negombo
At Don Bosco Technical Centre, Negombo, we believe in empowering young people with the skills, values, and confidence they need to build a brighter future. As part of the worldwide Don Bosco network, our mission is to guide underprivileged and ambitious youth towards success through quality vocational training, personal development, and values-based education.
For decades, we have been a place of hope and opportunity for the youth of Sri Lanka. With modern workshops, hands-on training, and experienced instructors, we prepare our students to face today's job market with competence and integrity.
Our programs cover a wide range of technical fields such as Automobile Technology, Electrical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, ICT, Pastry & Bakery, and more. Beyond skills, we also nurture leadership, teamwork, and character – ensuring that our graduates are not just professionals, but also responsible citizens who value life and community.

To endow with modern technical and vocational training to the most deserving and marginalised young people. To answer the problems of the young at risk. By making them realised the hidden qualities they have and leading them to use the best of their ability for the good of the other.

We uphold our commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and continual improvement in line with the principles of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that every learner entrusted to our care is equipped to build a dignified and productive future.
OBJECTIVES

1. Enhance Technical Competence (SDG 4 & 8)
- Achieve at least 90% successful completion rate of training programs each year.
- Ensure 80% of graduates secure employment, self-employment, or higher studies within 6 months of course completion. (SDG 2, 4 & 8)

2. Promote Values and Citizenship Formation (SDG 2, 4 & 16)
- Conduct a minimum of 2 annual programs on ethics, spirituality, and social responsibility.
- Ensure 100% of students participate in value-based education and community service activities. (SDG 4 & 16 – Quality Education, Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions)

3. Ensure Inclusivity and Equal Access (SDG 1, 5 & 10)
- Provide at least 30% of annual intake opportunities to poor, marginalized, and underprivileged youth. (SDG 1, No Poverty)
- Offer scholarship/financial assistance programs to at least 50 students annually. (SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities)

4. Improve Teaching and Learning Quality (SDG 4)
- Conduct annual professional development for 100% of instructors.
- Upgrade tools, equipment, and digital learning resources at least once every two years to meet industry standards. (SDG 4 – Quality Education)

5. Strengthen Industry and Community Partnerships (SDG 8)
- Establish or renew at least 5 active partnerships each year with industries (national and international), NGOs, or Church organizations.
- Provide 100% of students with opportunities for on-the-job training (OJT). (SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth)

6. Commit to Continuous Improvement (ISO 9001:2015 principle – Continuous Improvement)
- Review the Quality Management System (QMS) annually for effectiveness.
- Target 90% student and employer satisfaction rate through feedback surveys. (ISO 9001 principle – Continuous Improvement)

7. Foster cleanliness, waste management, and a healthy environment on campus. (SDG 6, 11, 12, 15)
- Achieve 100% segregation of waste (biodegradable, recyclable, non-recyclable) by end of year. (SDG 6 Clean Water & Sanitation, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities & Communities, SDG 12 Responsible Consumption & Production, SDG 15 Life on Land. Also, in reference to Clean Sri Lanka Objective)

8. Promote the use of renewable energy and support training related to green technologies. (SDG 7, 9 & 13)
- Install and maintain solar power systems to meet at least 80% of the institute’s annual electricity needs.
- Introduce Hybrid and EV to the Automobile section.
- Establish one EV charging demonstration point for training and awareness before 2026. (SDG 7 – Affordable & Clean Energy, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure)
